Vande Bharat sleeper train undertakes first trial in Mumbai - WATCH

Vande Bharat sleeper train undertakes first trial in Mumbai - WATCH

The sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express arrived in Mumbai for its first trial run on 15th January 2024. The trial took place on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara-Mumbai Central route. The Vande Bharat sleeper train consists of 16 coaches, which are divided into three classes: AC 1st Class, AC 2-Tier, and AC 3-Tier. With a total capacity of 1,128 passengers, this new version of the train aims to offer a more comfortable and luxurious travel experience for long-distance journeys. The sleeper version has already achieved a peak speed of 180 km/h during recent successful trials. After the ongoing trials are complete, the train will undergo a final evaluation by the Railway Safety Commissioner, which includes testing the train's maximum speed. Once this crucial step is passed, the Vande Bharat Sleeper trains will be officially certified and inducted into regular service by Indian Railways. Designed with modern amenities, these trains will feature automatic doors, ultra-comfortable berths, on-board WiFi, and an aircraft-like design, providing passengers with a travel experience that is both efficient and luxurious. Currently, 136 Vande Bharat Express trains are operational across India on short- and medium-distance routes, connecting major cities like Delhi and Varanasi. This trial of the sleeper version marks an important milestone in Indian Railways' efforts to revolutionize long-distance rail travel.
